Actors’ Equity Association Endorses New Yorkers Laura Gillen and Pat Ryan for Congress

New York -– Actors’ Equity Association announced that Equity’s National Council has voted unanimously on behalf of the more than 51,000 actors and stage managers working in live entertainment to endorse two candidates for the House of Representatives from the State of New York: Laura Gillen (NY04) and Pat Ryan (NY18).

“New York is a worker-friendly state, and it deserves elected officials who share that value,” said Al Vincent Jr., executive director of Actors’ Equity Association. “We must return Pat Ryan to his seat, and we need Laura Gillen to join him in Congress. These are crucial seats to winning a pro-worker majority in Congress, and we’re rolling up our sleeves, here.”

Equity has hired political organizers around the country, including on Long Island and in the Hudson Valley, where these candidates are running, to mobilize their communities and get out the vote this campaign season.

Equity’s public policy priorities include defending and protecting the right to collectively bargain, a prevailing wage in the arts, racial justice, a strong minimum wage, stronger federal and state arts funding, gun violence prevention, universal federal health care, tax fairness and LGBTQ non-discrimination protections.

ACTORS' EQUITY ASSOCIATION, founded in 1913, is the U.S. labor union that represents more than 51,000 professional actors and stage managers.
