Actors' Equity  is pleased that the nation’s highest court has ruled that same-sex marriage is now a constitutional right. This is a landmark decision that makes same-sex marriage legal across the country.

The Equity-League Pension plan remains in the “green zone” and is well funded. The most recent actuarial valuation shows that as of June 1, 2014, our plan has a funded percentage of 120.7 percent with an actuarial value of assets of $1.6 billion.

In late September, the International Federation of Actors, or FIA, held its yearly meeting of the executive committee in Paris.

In a move to expand its outreach and services to members of the theatre community, the Actors’ Equity Foundation, a philanthropic and humanitarian nonprofit organization, has hired Joan Glazer as its managing director.

Actors’ Equity  re-upped the Bay Area Theatre Contract (BAT) for a four year term. The contract takes effect July 21, 2014 and runs through 2018.

With such hefty national topics like marriage equality, health care and arts funding taking center stage with legislators, Equity members are proud to be standing at the forefront of these historic issues, which is one of the reasons Equity’s National Public Policy Committee held its first annual NPPC Summit on Saturday, April 12, 2014.  

Actors’ Equity members living on the West Coast are about to move in to a new home this summer. The new L.A. Equity home, located in the NOHO Arts District and slated to open this summer, marks the organization’s sixth move in the area — Actors' Equity first landed in Los Angeles in 1921.

Actors’ Equity recently negotiated four-year contracts with three Employers in the Central Region, gaining increases and improving work rules for each agreement.
