On March 24th, Actors' Equity Association’s Equal Employment Opportunity Committee sponsored Celebrate Women’s History Month 2014 — an event that featured excerpted performances from one-woman shows about the lives of five female activists.

Actors’ Equity has announced the selection of Ralph Remington as Western regional director/assistant executive director, effective January 2014.  Remington succeeds Mary Lou Westerfield, who steps down from the post at the end of the year.

Actors’ Equity  has announced the selection of Sean Taylor as Central regional director/assistant executive director effective Monday, November 11, 2013. Taylor succeeds Christine Provost, who stepped down from the post in August.

Equity has purchased a building at 5636 Tujunga Avenue in North Hollywood that will be the new Western Region headquarters.

By a margin of 97.2%, Actors' Equity members have overwhelmingly ratified a new four- year LORT contract, which governs employment in 55 theatres represented by the League of Resident Theatres and 16 independent not-for-profit theatres.

After a long career on the Equity staff, Mary Lou Westerfield will step down as Western Regional Director/Assistant Executive Director at the end of 2013. She will continue with Equity, working on several key projects through the end of May, 2014, at which time she will retire

At its February meeting, the National Council passed a resolution to make the San Francisco Bay Area the 27th and newest Equity Liaison city. The resolution was made based on recommendations from the PPC and the Western Regional Board.

Sixteen members of Actors' Equity Association, the Union which represents more than 49,000 stage actors and stage managers nationwide, have been elected to the National Council, the Union’s governing body.

Actors’ Equity received a historic national charter in its centennial year from the AFL-CIO. today. The direct charter, which was given at the morning session of the AFL-CIO Executive Council meeting, makes Equity the 57th labor organization to receive the distinguished honor of formal association with the national federation of American unions.

At its meeting on Tuesday, January 15, the Council of Actors' Equity overwhelmingly ratified a new four-year SET (Short Engagement Touring) Agreement. This agreement, which governs qualifying productions on the road, achieves significant salary and per diem increases and other improvements.
